WHAT ARE DBT SKILLS GROUPS?
Participating in a DBT Skills Group is a bit like taking a college course in coping skills. While DBT skills groups are a required part of comprehensive DBT, they can also be a stand-alone treatment for some people. Each week, your skills trainer will teach specific, in-depth coping strategies from one of the four DBT Modules. You will be able to cover all the skills in about 6 months, or 24 weeks (not including weeks off for holidays, etc.). Each group starts with a mindfulness practice, followed by homework review, and time learning the new skill of the week. As a group member, you will focus on learning new ways to tolerate difficulties, manage emotions, problem solve, and communicate.

What is Adolescent DBT Graduate Group?
For Teens who have already been through 6+ months of DBT Skills training
The Adolescent DBT Graduate group is a once monthly virtual group for teens who have already completed 6+ months of DBT Skills Training and want continued peer support in applying skills to their lives. The group is less didactic than traditional DBT Skills Groups and is structured similarly to a DBT Consultation Team meeting, where the teens get to help set the agenda and ask for what they need in group (e.g. validation, problem solving, a more "dialectical stance," etc.). The group begins with mindfulness practice, sometimes includes a short discussion topic brought up by the group leader (a previously learned skill, or discussion of "secondary targets" for example), and then proceeds with what the teens themselves put on the agenda.
